Marny’s Dream

Trigger Warning: Character Death, Suicide

Marny tossed in her bed; her eyes fluttering in the REM cycle. Her arm landed on her stomach as a gasp made its way out of her mouth.

She could hear their laughter. They were laughing at her. They thought she was oblivious.

And she had been.

She had thought that they were her friends. She had believed the girls to be the sisters her parents couldn’t give her.

Until she heard them talking to David about courting.

And David. Her David. She had thought him to be her soul mate. She had thought they would spend their lives together.

Until she heard him asking her friend to marry him.

Tears leaked from Marny’s closed eyes. Her body shook in silent tremors. Faint whimpers escaped from her mouth as her face contorted in pain.

They didn’t know that she could hear them. They didn’t know that she had heard everything. She heard her so-called friends asking the man she had given her heart to if he had told her. She heard their delighted shrieks when he said no.

It was clear to her now that it had all be a joke.

His heart had never belonged to her.

His heart would never belong to her.

And so she ran.

The tears began to flow freely from her closed eyes. Marny’s breath came fast and shallow, betraying the rapid beat of her heart.

Roots passed by underneath her feet and she easily sidestepped the rocks in her path. She knew these woods well, though she couldn’t see the trees. She had spent many days wandering these woods with the people she use to call sisters.

She turned away from the path to travel up hill. This new path was not as well-known to her feet but she knew where it would take her.

Her pace slowed as she stumbled over roots. She tripped over rocks and slowed her pace even more.

She could hear them behind her but she knew they wouldn’t expect her to take this path. She had been warned off of this path her entire life, they wouldn’t think that she would take it now.

Since birth, her mother had warned her away from the cliff. Her mother was terrified that the cliff would bring her death. After all, it was dangerous enough for those who could see where the edge lay.

Marny tossed and turned, her blankets getting tangled in her moving limbs. Moans and whimpers made their way through her lips as her eyes fluttered rapidly beneath their lids.

She could hear them behind her; shouting her name. She wasn’t going to let them stop her. She was going to finish what she started.

She knew she was close. The tree roots were further apart and the ground was softer under her feet.

She picked up her speed.

The ground crumbled underneath her as she moved forward. She lost her footing and began to panic. Her arms thrashed at the air as she felt her body fall.

Marny woke up with a gasp. Her eyes darted around the room. She gulped in the cool air of her bedroom as she tried to calm her breathing.

The AP Roberts is an extremely rare creature and there is only one known AP Roberts in the world. Usually off in its own little world, the AP returns to reality when it gets lonely. This elusive creature is rather difficult to catch on film, however will pose for drawings. The AP, though wild by nature, can be tamed and makes a wonderful pet. It should also be known that while the AP gets along with most creatures it has an intense fear of insects and large canines. The AP lives on a diet of mainly vegetables and candy but is not known to refuse food that is made and offered through kindness. The drink of choice for the AP is tea though it is known to drink water and juice. There is still much to be learned of the AP however, most agree that the writings of the AP are truly something to behold. Hopefully, one day the AP will find a good Agent creature who will introduce the AP's writings to a good publisher creature and the world will be able to read the AP's works.
